DEAF WOMEN UNITED ALERT: SCAM
August 2, 2008, it has come to the attention of Deaf Women United (DWU) that various individuals have been approached by scam artists claiming to be representatives of DWU.
The scam artists have been sending e-mail and instant messages to individuals soliciting donations, requesting personal information for bogus surveys, and claiming that they won lotteries operated by DWU.
Please do not provide them with your personal information. DWU does NOT solicit donations and personal information in such ways. DWU also does not conduct or work with any lottery.
If you believe that you have been contacted by these scam artists, please copy and forward the e-mails, instant message transcripts, and any other information to your local authorities.
